The National Hurricane Center (NHC) announced on Wednesday, October 9, tropical development off the southeast coast of Florida.
«While surrounding conditions appear only marginally favorable for additional development, a short-lived tropical or subtropical storm may form today or this evening as the cyclone moves northeast or east-northeast at about 15 miles per hour», - the NHC revealed. «Increasing upper-level winds are forecast late tonight, which should limit chances for further development».
If tropical development turns into a full-fledged storm, it will likely be named Hurricane Nadine.
The NHC warned Florida residents that the time for evacuation from their homes has passed ahead of the expected landfall on October 10.
«With Hurricane Milton on the way, today is the LAST day for evacuation», - the NHC wrote in a tweet on Tuesday, October 8. «Flooding from the hurricane will make it impossible for some to leave their area».
While there was no mandatory evacuation announced in Orlando at the time of publication, the densely populated city has taken appropriate measures to prepare for Milton. However, gas stations throughout the area have run out of fuel, and residents trying to leave Orlando are experiencing difficulties refueling their cars
