Sydney Swini: what do we know about her political views on Trump Sydney Swini: what do we know about her political views on Trump
Sydney Sweeney has been facing criticism for many years, whether it be her celebrity image or political views. Now, as the face of a new American Eagle jeans campaign, her name and face have become a viral topic on the divided internet. Fans are also curious if she supports Donald Trump, as her voter registration in Florida showed that she registered with the Republican Party before the 2024 presidential elections.

Below, Hollywood Life breaks down what we know about Sweeney’s views on Trump.

It appears that Sweeney is a registered Republican. The news only became known in August 2025, when several sources, including Hollywood Life, reviewed public voter registries in Florida. It turns out that the actress decided to register with the Republican Party of Florida in Monroe County on June 14, 2024. The home address she registered under was purchased earlier in the same month for $ 13 million, according to Zillow.

However, Sweeney has not publicly commented on her political views. She has never confirmed who she voted for in the 2024 elections or supported any presidential candidate.

Sweeney has also not publicly expressed support for the Republican president. But since she is registered with the Republican Party, people assume she may have voted for Trump along with millions of others.

Several Republican politicians have openly criticized Trump since his campaign and victory in the 2024 elections. Even some of his former closest allies have spoken out against his candidacy and supported former Vice President Kamala Harris, including Alyssa Farah Griffin, Cassidy Hutchinson, and Anthony Scaramucci.

Despite being a Republican, Sweeney’s voter registration does not prove support for Trump. She has not publicly expressed support for the president.

However, the White House defended the American Eagle ad featuring Sweeney, and Trump’s longtime advisor Stephen Chung tweeted in July 2025: «Cancel culture has gotten out of control. This distorted, moronic, and stupid liberal thinking — a big reason why Americans voted the way they did in 2024. They are tired of this nonsense».

In August 2022, Sweeney came under criticism when photos and videos from her mother’s 60th birthday party began circulating on social media. Guests at the party were seen wearing red hats that read «Make 60 Great Again», - referencing Trump’s long-standing slogan «Make America Great Again».

Sweeney defended her family from criticism in a now-deleted post on X (formerly known as Twitter), noting that people were «making assumptions» about them.

«Guys, this is insane», - wrote the «Euphoria» star at the time. «An innocent celebration of my mom’s 60th birthday turned into an absurd political statement that was not intended. Please stop making assumptions. Lots of love to everyone ♥️ and happy birthday, mom!»

Later that same year, Sweeney addressed the controversy again in an interview with British magazine GQ.

«Honestly, I feel like nothing I can say will help the conversation», - Sweeney said. «It's turned into a fire, and nothing I can say will bring it back on the right path»
