Sydney Sweeney continues to represent advertising campaigns featuring partial nudity for the sports betting site Novig amid ongoing criticism. In a video posted on her Instagram on October 11, Sweeney, 29, commented on the situation, stating, «There are grown men making charts to bet on the color of my underwear. I mean, I’m flattered».
In the clip, Sweeney walks around a room in white Novig lingerie and without a top, styling her hair in loose waves. She also touched on more serious topics, saying, «There's insider trading on the death of dictators and an army of bots manipulating all of this. There’s someone sitting on the toilet betting their savings on war. And then there are people who are just betting on sports».
The advertising campaign featuring Sweeney was launched in September when she posed nude against sports equipment, including footballs, hockey pucks, and tennis balls. Some social media users criticized the campaign, claiming it «sets women back 100 years». In response to the criticism, Sweeney noted that the concept of the campaign is to «break through the noise and focus solely on sports».
Amid the negative backlash, her former co-star from the series «Euphoria», - Sharon Stone, urged Sweeney to «take responsibility». Stone emphasized that «you cannot diminish women’s sports to attract men’s attention so they can place bets». Sweeney, for her part, has openly discussed embracing her body despite the criticism.
