Almost everyone is a fan of Sydney Sweeney — but not Carol Baum. The producer of «Father of the Bride» did not hold back when she told the audience at a screening of her film «Dead Ringers» why she doesn’t understand the 26-year-old movie star.
«I don’t get Sydney Sweeney», - Carol began, according to Daily Mail. «I watched a movie of Sydney Sweeney on a plane because I wanted to see it. I wanted to know who she is and why everyone talks about her».
The USC School of Cinematic Arts professor continued to call Sydney’s latest film with Glenn Powell, «Any Other You», - «unbearable».
«I watched this unbearable movie — sorry to those who love it — [this] romantic comedy where they hate each other», - Carol explained. «I told my class: 'Explain this girl to me. She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so popular?' No one could answer, but then a question was asked: 'Well, if you could make your movie because she was in it, would you do it?'»
In response, Carol said, «Well, that’s a really good question… it’s very hard to answer because we all want the movie to be made, and who would turn down the green light? None of my friends. Your job is to make the movie».
Sydney has not publicly responded to Carol’s comments. However, the star of «Euphoria» has become one of the most well-known actors in Hollywood. Recently after filming the HBO series, originally from Washington, she has appeared in numerous films, including her recent action film «Madame Web» and horror film «Perfect».
A month ago, Sydney made her debut as a host on «Saturday Night Live». During the episode — which aired in March — she mentioned one of the most discussed topics regarding her and Glenn’s romantic comedy: rumors that they were in a relationship off-screen while playing lovers.
«The craziest rumor I’ve heard is that during the filming of 'Any Other You,' I was in a relationship with my co-star Glenn Powell. That, obviously, is not true», - she said, before giving credit to her fiancé Jonathan Davino for co-producing the fun film together. However, to joke about the baseless gossip, Sydney asked for the cameras to show Jonathan, but instead they showed Glenn sitting in the audience, while the viewers laughed
