Sylvester Stallone comments on his appointment as ambassador in Hollywood

Sylvester Stallone commented on President Donald Trump’s unexpected decision to appoint him as a special ambassador to Hollywood. In an interview with The Sunday Times published on September 20, Stallone revealed that he learned about the appointment while watching television and heard the announcement alongside Mel Gibson and Jon Voight. He noted that he initially thought it was impossible and was surprised when he heard about it.
In January 2025, Trump appointed Stallone, Voight, and Gibson as «special envoys» to bring Hollywood back, which he claimed had lost a lot of business over the past four years, «more, better, and stronger than ever». The president added that these actors would be his «eyes and ears» in Hollywood and that he would act on their suggestions.
Stallone stated that he told Trump that such an appointment was impossible and that he would have declined the position if asked at the outset. He explained that Hollywood resembles feudal states with their small kingdoms, and that it is difficult to manage processes across six studios. Stallone added that Hollywood would develop on its own, and corporate structures would not want to listen to his financial advice.
Despite publicly supporting Trump and previously representing him at a party in Mar-a-Lago after his reelection in 2024, Stallone has also supported politicians from different parties. In the interview, he noted that he is not a «political animal» and is more of a «political atheist».
