Simone Biles marked her latest Olympic victory with a clear swipe at Donald Trump, related to his recent comments about «black jobs».

The most decorated American gymnast won her second gold medal at the 2024 Olympics in Paris — the sixth of her career — in the individual all-around on Thursday, August 1. She then solidified her GOAT (Greatest of All Time) status with a goat-shaped pendant, which she said was inspired by «haters».

But on Friday morning, the 27-year-old athlete decided to respond to another person’s comments, reflecting on her latest achievement in her profession in a post on X, which read: «I love my black job».

Biles' post seemed to refer to remarks made by the former president on Wednesday, when he spoke at the National Association of Black Journalists convention.

The 78-year-old Trump told the audience of black journalists that immigrants are taking «black jobs». He said: «I will tell you, that from the border, millions and millions of people are coming in who are inadvertently taking black jobs».

When asked to clarify his unfounded and unclear remark, Trump replied: «Black job is anyone who has a job. That’s what it is».

During the same event in Chicago, Trump questioned whether Vice President Kamala Harris is actually black. «I've known her for a long time indirectly, directly, very strongly», exclaimed Trump.

«And she has always been of Indian origin and promoted Indian origin. I didn’t know she was black until a few years ago when she accidentally became black, and now she wants to be known as black. So I don’t know, is she Indian or black?»

He may be confusing Harris with Nikki Haley…

In addition to Trump, Ohio Senator Jay D. Vance also faced backlash for resurrecting old comments, saying it is strange «that we are trying to turn a very tragic moment when Simone Biles left the Olympic team into this act of heroism».

«And I think it reflects pretty poorly on our society, which strives to praise people not for moments of strength, not for moments of heroism, but for their weakest moments», Vance continued.

Biles withdrew from the competition at the Tokyo Olympics three years ago, citing mental health and emotional issues, experiencing «twists» — a disconnect between the mind and body when gymnasts are in the air, which can lead to serious injuries, especially when performing the most difficult maneuvers very quickly.

Her decision in 2021 to remove herself from the competition sparked a national conversation about mental health. It brought her both recognition from those who praised her for putting her well-being first, and criticism from those who called her a coward
