Cynthia Erivo contacted Sunny Hostin regarding the Cornell case
Sunny Hostin, the host of «The View», - reported that actress Cynthia Erivo reached out to her after discussing the alleged gang rape case at Cornell University. According to Hostin, Erivo expressed concern that her comments did not reflect her true self and urged her to approach the discussion with greater empathy.

During a conversation that took place on the podcast «Behind the Table», - Hostin realized that she should focus on empathy so that the audience could better understand the legal aspects of the case. She noted that the next time they discussed the case, she began with empathy to convey to listeners the facts about New York state laws regarding sexual offenses.

Recently, «The View» discussed the high-profile case in which a group of Cornell University fraternity students was accused of gang rape. Hostin previously stated that, in her opinion, the case was being covered inaccurately and unfairly, and that, according to the victim’s testimony, the prosecutor would not have been able to bring charges. She also emphasized that in other states, the case might have been handled differently.

So far, no arrests have been made in the case; however, the local prosecutor announced a re-examination in light of a new civil lawsuit and leaked messages from a group on Snapchat that contained compromising material. The defendants' attorneys categorically denied the allegations.
