The death of Michaela De Prince shocked the dance community and her fans around the world. The late ballerina was only 29 years old when she passed away, and messages about her health had been circulating online. Michaela’s death was confirmed by her team through a post on Instagram on September 13, 2024 on her official page. She died on September 10.

The only known medical condition that Michaela lived with was a strained Achilles tendon in 2017. Although the injury was a temporary obstacle, Michaela attributed it to helping her prioritize her mental health.
«If I hadn’t strained my Achilles tendon, I don’t think I would have had the time and space to understand how important my mental health is», - she told Pointe magazine in November 2021.
According to NBC, Michaela’s representative, Jessica Wolinsky, noted that the late dancer died just one day before her mother, Elaine. Both deaths were unrelated.
