Sophie Kinsella left her family after her death in December 2025, following a battle with glioblastoma. She was 55 years old and is survived by her children. Her death was announced by loved ones in the same month.
«With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Sophie (also known as Maddy and Mommy)», - the announcement published on Kinsella’s Instagram stated. «She passed away peacefully, and her last days were filled with true joys: family, music, warmth, Christmas, and happiness. We cannot imagine life without her brightness and love for life».
The statement also noted: «Despite her illness, which she fought with incredible courage, Sophie considered herself truly blessed—to have such a wonderful family and friends, as well as incredible success in her writing career. She never took anything for granted and was always grateful for the love she received. We will miss her dearly; our hearts are broken».
