The USA now have fewer former presidents currently living after the death of Jimmy Carter. The late politician and humanitarian was the 39th president of the country and lived a full century before his passing. Now, with Carter no longer with us, the current living presidents are Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and the current president Joe Biden.
Biden paid tribute to Carter in an official public statement, describing the late democrat as «a man of great character and courage, hope and optimism».
Former President Obama and his wife, former First Lady Michelle Obama, honored Carter in a statement on social media, stating: «President Carter taught all of us what it means to live a life of dignity, grace, justice, and service».
Trump also paid tribute to Carter, addressing it on Truth Social. The Republican noted: «While I strongly disagreed with him philosophically and politically, I also understood that he sincerely loved and respected our country and all that it stands for».
«He worked diligently to make America a better place, and for that, I express my highest respect to him», - added Trump in his statement. «He was truly a good man and will certainly be greatly missed. After he left the Oval Office, he proved to be very significant, much more so than most presidents».
