Ed Geil, most known for his performances as Chucky in the horror movies «Child's Play», passed away in May 2025. He was 61 years old. The news of Ed’s death was announced by his niece Casey Geil through Facebook.
«With a heavy heart and an amazingly light coffin (you know what I mean?), we announce the sudden passing of our uncle, Ed Geil», - Casey wrote. «Ed Geil made his final call and is now the main character in the afterlife… Throughout his career, he appeared in more than 130 movies, TV shows, and commercials. With this broad creative legacy, he left behind a legend full of questionable lighting and amazing one-liners. Ed’s favorite role was that of the 'fun uncle'. His love language was sharing his love for the entertainment industry and the magic of Hollywood with his nieces».
Casey concluded her statement by writing: «He enjoyed the slow development of a good story and cheating in cribbage. He had a devilish laugh, and he will be missed. Rest in love, you grumpy bastard».

According to his niece’s Facebook post, Ed «hooked up in California when he was 20 years old, with $ 41 and a dream, and never looked back». After that, he climbed the Hollywood career ladder and eventually landed roles in movies. As Casey noted, Ed appeared in more than 130 movies, TV shows, and commercials.
Casey also revealed that her late uncle was a DJ. In her announcement, she wrote that Ed «fondly remembered his glory days as a DJ at the Plainwell roller rink».
Ed’s niece also disclosed that he «hated Bill Maher for no good reason».
As many horror fans know, Ed was a performer in the «Child's Play» franchise. However, he was also known for other movies, such as «Howard the Duck».
From 2023 until his death, Ed was under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department for allegations of sexually inappropriate behavior with minors. According to various sources, he admitted to the «Creep Catchers Unit» group that he made advances towards potential minors for sex.
In May 2025, a representative from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office told People magazine that Ed’s case had been transferred to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office in September 2023 for possible misdemeanor charges
