The cause of death was not provided by The New York Times, which was the first to report it. However, Cindy Berger, chairman and CEO of Rogers & Cowan PMK, told the publication that he passed away in his sleep at his home outside of Provo, Utah, on September 16, 2025.
Berger also shared a statement with People magazine, saying: «Robert Redford passed away on September 16, 2025 at his home in Sundance in the mountains of Utah — a place he loved, surrounded by those he loved. He will be greatly missed. The family requests privacy at this time».
