Voddie Baucham Jr., a Baptist pastor, author, and educator, passed away at the age of 56 on September 25, 2025. Known for his conservative teachings and dedication to faith, Baucham Jr. made an impact by founding the Founders Seminary in Cape Coral, Florida, and serving as the dean of theology at the African Christian University in Zambia. When news of his death became known, followers mourned his passing and wondered what health issues led to his «medical emergency» in his final hours.

«We are saddened to inform friends that our dear brother, Voddie Baucham Jr., has left the land of the dying and entered the land of the living», - read a statement posted on Baucham Jr.'s Facebook account. «Earlier today, after experiencing a medical emergency, he entered into his rest and the immediate presence of the Savior whom he loved, believed in, and served since his conversion during college. Please pray for Bridget, their children, and grandchildren».

No cause of death for Baucham Jr. was disclosed, but the statement posted on his social media revealed that he faced a «medical emergency» on the day of his death.

Four years before his death, Pastor Baucham Jr. had experienced heart failure, as he informed his supporters on social media.

«Brothers, if you have ever thought about supporting us in prayer, please do it now», - Baucham Jr. wrote on Facebook in February 2021, according to Christian Today. «We are going through the darkest valley we have ever faced. Not only have we experienced a great loss in recent weeks, but we are also facing a health crisis in the family».

The pastor explained that he had been feeling tired and short of breath for several weeks, noting that he thought he was «working too hard».

«However, as it turns out, I had heart failure!» he revealed at the time. Over $ 1 million was raised on GoFundMe to help Baucham in his recovery.

Baucham Jr. married his wife, Bridget, in 1989.
