Judge Frank Caprio, known as the «kindest judge in the world», - passed away from pancreatic cancer on August 20, 2025. The late 88-year-old judge touched hearts everywhere with his compassionate philosophy, and he gained a large following on social media thanks to his reality show Caught in Providence. The news of Caprio’s death became known when an official statement was posted on his Instagram account that day.

Caprio died from pancreatic cancer. His family confirmed this news through Caprio’s Instagram account, noting that he «passed away peacefully» after a «long and courageous battle» with the disease.

Caprio was open about his journey with pancreatic cancer until his death. Hailing from Teano, Italy, he announced his diagnosis in December 2023. After about a year and a half of radiation treatment, in May 2024, Caprio rang a bell to signify the end of his treatment.

In June 2025, Caprio shared a video on TikTok in honor of National Cancer Survivors Day. He said, «I want to dedicate this moment to every person who has faced this battle and won. I myself am in the middle of this battle right now. After a year and a half of my own battle with pancreatic cancer, I hope, God willing, to one day call myself a survivor too».

A few days before his death in August 2025, Caprio was hospitalized. He shared a photo from his hospital bed in Rhode Island on August 19, asking his followers for prayers. He passed away the next day.

Pancreatic cancer occurs when cancer cells form in the tissues of the pancreas. It is usually considered a deadly disease with a low survival rate in the United States.

Surgery is the only reliable treatment that could cure pancreatic cancer. However, doctors only proceed with it if they know they can remove all traces of cancer from the patient
