Liam Gleeson, the lacrosse coach at Siena University, passed away, as announced by the institution on December 3, 2025. He was only 41 years old, and his death occurred shortly after an accident at home, according to police reports. The university confirmed that a memorial service will be held in honor of Gleeson.

Gleeson was best known as the lacrosse coach at Siena University. He led the team for the past seven seasons, including a victory in the MAAC championship earlier this year. This was the first conference win for the «Saints» in over ten years.
Originally from Shoreham-Wading River on Long Island, Gleeson played lacrosse in high school and competed in Division II at Adelphi University before transferring to Albany. There, he helped his team reach the NCAA quarterfinals in 2007.
According to the New York State Police, Gleeson fell down the stairs in his home around 4:00 PM in early December 2025. According to Times Union, emergency services received a call and reported that Gleeson «sustained a serious head injury and was given CPR during transport to a local hospital».
Gleeson received CPR from paramedics and was hospitalized. A fundraising campaign was created on GoFundMe to assist Gleeson’s family, which had raised nearly $ 600,000 at the time of publication.
Gleeson passed away after sustaining a head injury from the home accident.
