Scott «Carrot Top» Thompson learned about the sexual harassment allegations made against him shortly before his suicide attempt, according to police documents. A Las Vegas police report obtained by Us describes events that took place on September 18, when police responded to a call about a man with suicidal tendencies at Thompson’s home.
According to the report, Daniel O’Leary, who identified himself as Thompson’s manager, was at the scene. O’Leary stated that around 3:20 PM, news broke about a lawsuit filed against Thompson, 61, accusing him of sexual harassment. He described Thompson’s behavior as distressed, with the comedian expressing concerns that his shows might be canceled.
Thompson told O’Leary that he hoped a third party, whose name was redacted in the report, and her daughter «would be okay» without him. He then hung up and sent O’Leary a message saying «done». O’Leary was unable to reach Thompson after that message.
O’Leary then called a woman and informed her about the article and their conversation, asking her to check on Thompson. She arrived at the house and saw the doors open. After searching, she found Thompson «in the backyard, near the pool, unconscious». The woman immediately called for help.
Thompson was hospitalized in Las Vegas following the incident, which is widely reported as a suicide attempt. As a result, several of his comedy shows were canceled. Thompson’s representative, Jamie Schlicher, stated that «Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and receiving the necessary care and support». His family and loved ones express gratitude for the care and request privacy.
Two days later, Schlicher provided an update on Thompson’s condition, stating that he «is still in the hospital and under close medical supervision». She added that he is now conscious, breathing on his own, and continues to improve, surrounded by family and loved ones.
