The band Weezer made headlines, but not only because of their upcoming participation in the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The band’s bassist, Scott Shriner, found himself in the news over the weekend when his wife, Jillian Shriner, known as Jillian Lauren, was shot by the Los Angeles police and charged with attempted murder. So, is Weezer playing at Coachella? Below we have an update.

Jillian is a well-known author, actress, journalist, and producer. She is best known for her bestsellers, including «Everything You Ever Wanted», «Some Girls: My Life in a Harem», «The Monster: The True Story of America’s Most Prolific Serial Killer», and «Beautiful».

In 2005, Jillian married Scott, and they have two children together.

The Los Angeles police stated that their officers were pursuing suspects in a traffic incident, none of whom were Jillian. However, on Tuesday, April 8, police were directed to the backyard of a home in Eagle Rock, according to NBC News.

According to multiple sources, Jillian allegedly tried to leave her home with a gun. Police claimed that they ordered her to drop the weapon several times, but she allegedly refused and pointed it at the officers.

During a press conference later that evening, Detective Megan Aguilar stated that from the body camera footage of the officers, it was not clear what happened in the moments before the police shot Jillian or if Shriner fired at the surrounding officers.

«At that point, some commands were given, multiple commands to drop the weapon, unfortunately, that led to an officer-involved shooting», - Aguilar noted.

Yes, Scott himself confirmed that Weezer will still perform at Coachella this weekend. According to The New York Post, Scott was seen walking his dogs the day after his wife was charged with attempted murder when asked about the incident.

«She's fine, thank you for asking», - Scott said, according to the publication, adding, «See you at Coachella!»
