«Hello everyone… I am sincerely grateful to all of you who reached out to me while I was absent from the program», - she began. «I want to share with you that I am taking time to focus on family health. I am not missing how happy I am to have not only the support of my family at 'Today', but also all of you. Your kindness means a lot to me. See you soon».
Less than four months later, Sheinell’s colleague Dylan Dreyer shared an update on her whereabouts during an interview with E! News.
«She's doing well. She’s hanging in there», - Dylan said. «We're praying for her and her family. You know, she’s just going through a tough time with her family… We talk to her every day. One of us from the team talks to her every day, and we’re here to support her, and we welcome her back with open arms as soon as she can return to us».
In May 2025, it was revealed that Sheinell was mourning the loss of her husband.
It is unclear when Sheinell will return to «Today», but she indicated that it will be «soon» in her Instagram caption from January 15.
However, «Today» is not rushing Sheinell to return. In May 2025, her colleagues announced the death of her husband, Uche Ojeh, after a battle with brain cancer known as glioblastoma.
«There are no words for the pain we feel for Sheinell and their three young children», - anchor Savannah Guthrie said on air. «Uche was an incredible person.
