The death of the main character at the end of the third season of Euphoria

We all knew that «Euphoria» would end on a dramatic note, but the finale of the third season truly broke hearts. After several characters died throughout the season, the final episode concluded with the death of one of the key characters.

Most fans should already know that quite a few significant characters die in the third season: Laurie (Martha Kelly), G (Marshawn Lynch), Alamo Brown (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), and Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi). Nate’s death, of course, satisfied many viewers, as even Elordi admitted he expected it.
In the finale of the third season, Rue Bennett (Zendaya) dies after unknowingly taking fentanyl.
Rue’s death is revealed gradually. After she escapes from Laurie’s henchmen, Rue and G flee, and Alamo rewards her with drugs and money as his «worker of the year». Assessing her injuries from the incident, Alamo offers Rue Percocet, reminding her that it’s only for «physical pain, not for that shit in your head».
When Rue sits with Ali (Colman Domingo), she becomes manic upon seeing a news report about Fezco (Angus Cloud) escaping from prison. She tries to find him and breaks through a police cordon at her home before seeing her estranged mother, Leslie (Nika King). They embrace, but unfortunately, this is just Rue’s fantasy.
After this, Ali finds Rue dead on the couch along with pills that turn out to be fentanyl.
Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) mourns the loss of her late husband Nate and focuses on her career creating content for OnlyFans. She keeps the details of Nate’s so-called «disappearance» a secret, although viewers understand that Cassie is lying.
As for Maddy (Alexa Demie), she lives with Cassie, and they team up to create a content house for OnlyFans. Like Cassie, Maddy also remains silent about Nate’s brutal death
