After the finale of the 36th season, titled «Estranger Things», - aired in the UK in June 2025, fans around the world went into a panic over a scene showing Marge dead. So is it true — is Marge killed off in the show?
In no way is Marge killed off in The Simpsons. However, the final episode of the 36th season includes a flash-forward scene 35 years into a possible future where Marge is presumably dead. In this scene, Lisa finds a letter from Marge that is supposed to be opened only if Homer outlives her. Marge’s fear of alienating Lisa and Bart turns out to be true in this time jump, but the siblings come together again to bring Homer back from his retirement in Florida. Then viewers see Marge looking down from a cloud and ascending to the heavens with the help of Ringo Starr from The Beatles.
Technically, if this 35-year time jump were to happen, Marge could die before Homer. But currently, she is not dead in the show. The Simpsons has been renewed for several future seasons, in which Marge and company will return.
