The 2026 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) will take place on September 27 at 7:30 PM Eastern Time. The ceremony, marking its 42nd anniversary, promises to be one of the most spectacular in recent years, featuring stars such as Madonna, Sombra, and possibly Taylor Swift.
The event will be hosted by Snoop Dogg, who has never hosted the VMAs before but has received 13 nominations and three wins. In a press release, he noted that MTV and the VMAs have been an important part of his career, and he is excited to return to this stage.
Madonna will open the show with a medley of her hits, including songs from her new album «Confessions II». Other performers will include Generation, Young Lin, Liza, Ray, Shaboozi, Gunna, and Sienna Spiro. The program will feature two tributes: one to George Michael, performed by Ray, Sombra, and Teddy Swims, and another to Dolly Parton, performed by Kacey Musgraves.
The Video Vanguard Award will be presented to the band Nirvana. Taylor Swift is likely to appear at the ceremony, as she will receive the new MTV VMA Artist Director Honors for her contributions to the development of music videos.
The ceremony will be broadcast on CBS and MTV, and subscribers to Paramount+ Premium will be able to watch it live. Subscribers to Paramount+ Essential will be able to see the show the following day, September 28.
