Sofia Bush recalls the unexpected moment when she fell in love with Ashlyn Harris

Sofia Bush is ready to share new details about her relationship with footballer Ashlyn Harris. In her cover story for Glamour magazine, published on Thursday, April 25, Sofia, 41, recalled the moment when her friendship with Ashlyn, 38, turned into something more.
It all started in the summer of 2023, when the actress was going through a divorce and planning to file for divorce from Grant Hughes.
«Groups of women in my life began opening up about the issues they were facing in their own homes», - wrote Sofia. «Every week it seemed like there were more of us, including Ashlyn, whom I first met in 2019 and who was in the process of breaking up with her wife».
In August 2023, Sofia officially filed for divorce from Grant. A month later, Ashlyn filed for divorce from Ali Krieger after almost four years of marriage.
In her essay, Sofia assured readers that there was no infidelity. Instead, she simply saw Ashlyn as a friend with a «big, happy life». But as they continued to open up about their breakups, everything began to change.
«I had to face many things, go through what seemed like countless therapy sessions, and get support from loved ones, but in the end I asked Ashlyn to meet outside of our friend circle to talk», - Sofia said. «And it was a four and a half hour dinner and truly one of the most surreal experiences of my life so far».
Sofia and Ashlyn first appeared in public as a couple at Elton John’s annual AIDS Foundation Oscars viewing party in March 2024. While the host of the «Work in Progress» podcast received support from friends and family, some members of the public were not as kind.
«People looking from the outside didn’t know how much time it took, how many painful conversations there were», - she wrote. «As soon as I started to see what was in front of me, online rumors started pouring out in the most awful ways. There were blatant lies. Threats of violence. There were accusations that I destroyed someone’s home. Those who said I left my ex because I suddenly realized I wanted to be with women — my partners knew what I liked for as long as I did (so that’s not true, sorry!)».
Although Sofia said she hates the idea of coming out to the public in 2024, the actress explained that she always knew that «my sexuality exists on a spectrum».
«Right now I think the word that best defines it is 'queer'», - she continued. «I can’t say it without a smile, really. And it feels pretty great»
