After the tragic news that Joey Chestnut would not be able to participate in the annual Nathan’s hot dog eating contest on Independence Day, July 4th, it was announced that the best of the best will compete against his old rival, Takeru Kobayashi, in a new showdown on Labor Day weekend.

We would love nothing more than to see him at the Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest. We hope he will return when he is not representing a competing brand», - MLE said.
Joey also reacted to the news, showing his disappointment with the decision. «This will deprive great fans of the holiday of the usual joy and entertainment. To my fans, I love and appreciate you.
