Donald Trump is nearly 80 years old, and his health has become a topic of discussion across the country following his diagnosis in 2025 — chronic venous insufficiency. On April 4, 2026, rumors emerged that the Republican president had visited Walter Reed Hospital for unknown reasons. So, is it true — did Trump really go to the hospital?

Here’s what we know about the rumors surrounding the hospital and Trump’s overall health.

Trump suffers from chronic venous insufficiency, which occurs when the veins in the legs cannot provide normal blood flow. This can be caused by damage to the valves in the veins, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine. If left untreated, a patient may experience pain, swelling, skin changes, varicose veins, and other issues.

However, Trump’s doctor, Dr. Sean Barbarrella, insisted that the Republican is «in excellent health».

«It's important to note that Trump showed no signs of thrombophlebitis (TP) or arterial disease», - Barbarrella wrote elsewhere in a memorandum, adding that all of Trump’s lab tests were «within normal limits». There were also no «signs of heart failure, kidney failure, or systemic disease» after Trump underwent an echocardiogram.

However, Vice President J.D. Vance fueled concerns about Trump’s health when he told USA Today that he was prepared to assume the presidency if «God forbid, a terrible tragedy occurs».

«He has incredible energy, and while most people working with the President of the United States are younger than him, I think we can notice that he is actually the last one to go to bed, the last one to make phone calls at night, and the first one to wake up and make calls in the morning», - Vance said last summer. «Yes, terrible tragedies happen, but I am very confident that the President of the United States is in good shape, will complete his remaining term, and will do a lot of good for the American people».

God bless him.

However, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung tweeted that Trump «has been continuously working in the White House and Oval Office» throughout the Easter weekend. The White House retweeted this message.

As of the time of publication, Trump had not commented on the hospitalization rumors.
