Spike Lee nearly got into a fight with a fan over Palestine conflict
Spike Lee found himself at the center of a tense confrontation with a fan who was asking him questions about the current situation between Israel and Palestine. The incident occurred on September 30, when the director was dining at a restaurant in Yankee Stadium, and he was captured on video that went viral on social media. Lee, who is 69 years old, shouted in response to the fan’s questions, «Why did you come up to me?» while several people held him back to prevent a possible physical confrontation.

As of now, Spike Lee has not commented on the incident. Us Magazine reached out to him for comments.

Lee was at the stadium to attend the second game of the American League Wild Card series between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox. He also attended the first game, which took place on September 29. On his Instagram, he shared a photo with his daughter Satchel, noting that they had fun at the game where the Yankees won 9−2.

The director is known for his political views and has previously faced criticism for wearing clothing in the colors of the Palestinian flag at this year’s NBA All-Star Game. Following that, he apologized to Deni Avdija, the first Israeli player to participate in the event. Lee explained that his outfit symbolized concern for Palestinian children and civilians and was not intended to offend those who practice Judaism or to justify violence.
