The USA and Canada will compete for the championship in the final of the 4 Nations NHL 2025 on Thursday evening.
Instead of the traditional All-Star break in the NHL, the 4 Nations Face-Off is a round-robin tournament involving the United States, Canada, Sweden, and Finland. The USA secured a 3−1 victory over Canada in the group stage last Saturday in Montreal. The winner of today’s final will take home the first-ever 4 Nations NHL Face-Off trophy.
Before the game, President Donald Trump announced plans to call the national men’s ice hockey team of the USA, also suggesting the idea of uniting Canada with the United States.
«This morning I will call our GREAT American hockey team to cheer them on to victory tonight against Canada, which with MUCH LOWER TAXES AND MUCH STRONGER SECURITY, someday, maybe soon, will become our precious and very important Fifty-First State», - he wrote on Truth Social.
Although the USA team invited Trump to visit the game, he declined due to a prior commitment to speak to Republican governors in Washington. «But we will all be watching, and if Governor Trudeau wants to join us, he will be very welcome», - he added, referring to his proposal again.
