Steve Barton accused of sexual crimes against students
In Ohio, the assistant principal of Aiken New Tech High School in Cincinnati, Steve Barton, is facing nearly a dozen charges of sexual misconduct involving several high school students. On October 8, he was charged with six counts of sexual assault and two counts of «grooming» in connection with four new victims, according to the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office.

These new charges came to light after Barton, 43, had already been charged with five counts of sexual assault and one count of grooming involving a 16-year-old student. Prosecutors reported that new evidence of sexual misconduct involving four additional students, including two 15-year-olds and two 17-year-olds, emerged following his initial charges.

According to the prosecutor’s office, Barton used his position to engage in «inappropriate physical contact with students». The investigation revealed that he accessed school records to track students' whereabouts and took them out of classes. Barton also took students to «private places» and shopping trips, and sent them money via CashApp.

After the initial charge involving the 16-year-old student, Barton pleaded not guilty. In a statement released by local television station WXIX-TV, the Cincinnati Public Schools administration expressed concern over the new allegations and confirmed that Barton had been suspended without pay since August 27, 2026. His termination is under review, and he has not returned to the school since his arrest. The school district will continue to cooperate with authorities during the ongoing investigation.
