Supporters of Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of the infamous company Theranos, held a rally in her defense at the premiere of the new documentary «You Can See Everything». At the event, which took place at the New York Film Festival on September 30, one of Holmes' supporters, Ryan Elhosseini, stated that all of Holmes' claims about the technology were true and that she should be released.
Elhosseini, the founder of the group Just Blood, claims to have revived the failed Theranos blood testing technology using materials from the 2021 trial and the company’s patents. The Just Blood group distributed flyers and set up billboards calling for «Freedom for Elizabeth Holmes». They also launched a petition on Change.org, which had gathered 364 signatures at the time of publication.
In the petition, Elhosseini urges federal authorities to reconsider Holmes' case based on new technical evidence. He hopes to «exonerate Elizabeth Holmes» and free her from prison if he can prove the functionality of the previously discredited technology.
The documentary, directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, provides unique access to Holmes and her husband Billy Evans just weeks before she surrendered to federal authorities on May 30, 2023. Holmes was convicted on four federal counts of fraud and conspiracy in 2022 and sentenced to 11 years in prison.
Holmes is currently serving her sentence at the Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Texas. Reports indicate that she has befriended Jen Shah, a reality TV star who is also serving time for fraud. It was previously reported that Holmes' sentence was reduced, and she is expected to be transferred to a halfway house in Del Valle in August 2027.
