In a statement to Fox News, the Philadelphia Police Department noted: «Two women were injured by gunfire outside the parade route. The victims are identified as a 27-year-old Hispanic woman who was shot in the left leg, and a 20-year-old Asian woman who was shot in the upper left thigh bone. Both victims were taken by medics to Presbyterian Hospital, where they are in stable condition».
The name of the suspect in the shooting is currently unknown. The suspect, according to reports, was wearing an Eagles jersey.
Since most parade participants did not hear the shots, the shooting initially went unnoticed. However, two women were attacked on Ben Franklin Parkway during the celebration, CBS News reports. The women sought help on 23rd and Spring Garden streets, the publication said.
