Student Alexander Evanoff arrested for filming intimate video
A college student in North Carolina was arrested after he allegedly recorded a sexual encounter with a classmate and shared the footage in his fraternity group on Snapchat. Alexander Michael Evanoff was taken into custody on October 19 and charged with two felonies: secret observation and disclosure of private images, including sexual acts and «nude human body parts», - according to information from the Charlotte Observer.

According to police, Evanoff, 19, used his mobile phone to record the video in a dorm room at the University of North Carolina on September 19. Later that same day, he posted the video in the Snapchat group of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, which had 32 members, as stated in the warrant reviewed by the Charlotte Observer.

The incident came to the authorities' attention after two individuals reported seeing the video in the group. The woman depicted in the footage later learned about the recording and reportedly told police that she confronted Evanoff about it. He allegedly responded that he shared the video to «look cool».

After Evanoff was confronted, he «allegedly responded affirmatively and apologized», - according to the affidavit. He later spoke with investigators and «admitted that he recorded and distributed the video without [the woman’s] consent and acknowledged that its distribution would be humiliating for her». He also reportedly told detectives that he never asked the woman for permission to film their sexual encounter or to share it.

Following Evanoff’s arrest, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte released a statement saying that Evanoff «is currently not a student at the university». «The alleged behavior in this case, if confirmed, is abhorrent. It is not what we expect or will tolerate from members of our university community», - university officials told the Charlotte Observer. «All of our cases are evaluated in accordance with applicable university policies. Any student who breaks the law is held accountable not only for criminal charges but may also be subject to university disciplinary proceedings, which can include sanctions up to expulsion».

Evanoff was released from custody after posting a $ 10,000 bond, according to court and jail records. His next court appearance is scheduled for November 5. It is currently unclear whether Evanoff has entered a plea or hired an attorney following his arrest. The University of North Carolina at Charlotte police did not respond to a request from Us for comments regarding updates in this case.
