Country singer Garth Brooks was named in a complaint dated October 3, in which an anonymous woman claimed that he raped her in 2019 when she worked as his hairdresser. According to court documents obtained by CNN, the complaint was filed in a California court.

In the lawsuit, the hairdresser, referred to as Jane Roe, claimed that she began working for Brooks in 2017 after frequently doing makeup for his wife, Trisha Yearwood. Roe also claimed that Brooks sent her sexually explicit text messages, repeatedly showed his genitals in her presence, and made «repeated comments» about a «threesome» with Yearwood.

Prior to Roe’s lawsuit, Brooks filed an anonymous complaint in an attempt to prevent further accusations and categorically denied her version of events.

At this time, Brooks has not been arrested. Although arrests may intersect with lawsuits, they fundamentally differ in processes regulated by different rules and standards.

In a statement released on October 3, Brooks said: «For the last two months, I have been relentlessly pursued with threats, lies, and tragic stories of what my future will be if I do not write a check for many millions of dollars. It’s been like having a loaded gun put to my head».

«Silent money, no matter how much, remains silent money. For me, it means that I acknowledge behavior I am incapable of — ugly acts that no one should commit against another», - he continued. «We filed a lawsuit against this person almost a month ago to fight extortion and slander. We did it anonymously for the families affected on both sides».

«I want to play music tonight», - he added. «I want to continue our good deeds in the future. It breaks my heart that these wonderful things are now in question. I trust the system, I am not afraid of the truth, and I am not the person they have painted me to be».

Following Brooks' statement, attorney Douglas H. Wigdor, representing Jane Roe, said: «We are very confident in our case, and over time the public will see its true nature, not its carefully crafted image».

Yearwood, his wife of nearly 20 years, did not comment directly on the situation. However, a source who recently worked with the country legend told Us Weekly on October 5 that she and his three daughters — Taylor, August, and Allie — from his former wife Sandy Mahl, support him. Brooks and Mahl, who married in 1986 as college sweethearts, separated in 1999 and officially divorced in 2001.

«Garth is known as a kind and generous person, so these accusations are very shocking. Everyone around him, including Trisha and his daughters, believe he is telling the truth. Many believe this is not like him and that he would never do such a thing. Everyone is puzzled».

«All Garth cares about is his family and his fans», - the source added. «He is a devoted family man and very down to earth».
