Maraya Kennedy Cuomo married her long-awaited boyfriend, Tellef Lundevall, over the weekend — and her father, Andrew Cuomo, didn’t miss the event for anything. The former governor of New York, 66, was spotted at the Kennedy compound ceremony and also danced with his 29-year-old daughter at the reception, according to photos published by Page Six on Monday, July 22.
An eyewitness told the publication that «almost 400 members of the Cuomo, Kennedy, and their friends' families» attended the event, adding: «The weekend was absolutely magnificent, not a single detail went unnoticed. Maraya looked stunning. It was all love from beginning to end».
On her wedding day, Maraya wore a unique dress by Vera Wang.
Andrew shares Maraya, as well as Michaela and Cara Kennedy Cuomo, with his ex-wife, Kerry Kennedy. The former spouses were married from 1990 to 2005. Although they have since separated, Andrew and Kerry, according to eyewitness reports, were present on Maraya’s special day. According to the eyewitness, the parents «were clearly proud and happy, shining all the time».
As there should be a father-daughter dance at every traditional wedding, the eyewitness told the publication that Andrew and Maraya danced to Billy Joel’s «Just the Way You Are».
Throughout his political career, Andrew has often spoken about his close relationship with his daughters. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the three Cuomo-Kennedy daughters moved to the governor’s residence in Albany to quarantine together. Despite the challenges Andrew faced as governor, his daughters supported him.
Maraya’s new husband was mentioned by Andrew several times while he was in office. In 2020, Andrew jokingly referred to Tellef as «the boyfriend» at a press conference.
«Fatherly advice: the answer to the question of what you think of the boyfriend should always be 'I like the guy,' because there are only two options», - Andrew began. «Either you like the guy, or you don’t like the guy — but you can never say you don’t like the guy. I learned this lesson the hard way».
Fortunately for Tellef, Andrew concluded, «in this case, I like the guy»
