SZA revealed that she covered Eminem’s classic song «Lose Yourself» on Instagram on Thursday, May 30th. The 34-year-old R&B singer and songwriter posted a video with an audio file of her version of Marshall Mathers' song. Although it seems she doesn’t plan on officially releasing the song, she shared most of the track for fans to enjoy. «Have you ever just covered Eminem in a tender style for the feels?» she wrote.
In the song, SZA performs «Lose Yourself» in an alternative R&B style. While her instrumentation includes a whisper of the classic guitar riff, it is mostly her own rendition with jazzy piano chords and subdued instrumental accompaniment. She also sings the verses instead of rapping them, and it sounds fantastic.
