Taeyong (real name: Moon Tae-il) is known as one of the members of the K-Pop group NCT and its subunits, NCT U and NCT 127. Known for hits such as «Starlight» and «Stay With Me», - hailing from South Korea, he has been working in the music industry since his debut in 2016. However, in August 2024, Taeyong parted ways with NCT after allegations of sexual assault surfaced.

«We have realized the seriousness of the issue, and we have decided that Taeyong can no longer continue team activities», - said his label SM Entertainment in a statement, according to the Associated Press. The label added that Taeyong had been «accused in a criminal case related to a sexual offense».

In 2013, Taeyong was accepted into the applied music program at Hanyang University, which, at the time, was considered the most competitive early admission program in the country. However, Taeyong was scouted by SM Entertainment as a trainee and declined the university’s offer.

A year after becoming a member of SM Rookies from his label, Taeyong released the song «Because of You». He then released the song «Without You» as a member of NCT U in 2016.

In August 2023, Taeyong reportedly got into a car accident while riding his motorcycle home in Seoul, South Korea.

In 2021, Taeyong joined Instagram and quickly reached 1 million followers. This broke the Guinness World Record for the «fastest time to reach 1 million followers» on the platform. At the time of publication, Taeyong has over 5 million followers.

In August 2024, SM Entertainment announced that Taeyong was facing allegations of an unspecified «sexual offense». Details of the accusations he is facing are unclear at the time of publication.
