The mysterious death of Dan Rivera has sparked widespread interest in the late paranormal researcher. However, a report on Rivera’s health after his death has emerged.
In a press release from the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR), the group emphasized that Rivera «was not only an important part of our team for over ten years, but also a deeply compassionate, loyal, and devoted friend».
«As we move forward, we want to share that while we do not know what the future holds for NESPR without Dan, we plan to continue to hold events scheduled earlier this year», - the NESPR press release stated via Facebook. «We believe with all our hearts that Dan would want the work to continue — bringing people together, sharing knowledge, and honoring the memory of Ed and Lorraine Warren. We will carry his spirit with us in everything we do».
Below are updates on everything we know so far about Rivera’s untimely death.
Rivera was known as a paranormal researcher and producer, known for his work on 28 Days Haunted, according to his IMDb profile. He was a mentor to the late paranormal expert Lorraine Warren.
Additionally, Rivera was a veteran of the US Army, husband to his wife Sarah Rivera, and father of their four children.
On July 13, 2025, Rivera was found dead in his hotel room in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. According to the Evening Sun, firefighters and medical personnel were called to the hotel around 8:00 pm. First responders from Adams County performed CPR on the man, matching Rivera’s age.
The Adams County Coroner’s Office and police report showed that Rivera «was found in his hotel room by staff» and that «nothing unusual or suspicious was noticed at the scene».
The cause of Rivera’s death at the time of publication is unknown, but an autopsy is expected to shed light on what happened to him.
TMZ reported that Rivera was feeling unwell just a few hours before he was found dead in his hotel. Adams County Coroner Francis Dutrow told TMZ that in the morning when he died, Rivera «was surrounded by colleagues», - but they all «parted ways when he told them he was sick and needed to go back to his room to rest». According to information, Rivera’s colleagues had not heard from him for a while, so they went to check on him. It was then that Rivera was found dead that night.
The supposedly haunted Annabelle doll was featured on Rivera’s «Devils on the Run» tour on the day of his death. Part of the tour in Gettysburg took place from July 11 to 13, 2025, the day of Rivera’s death.
