Cobra Kai ended earlier this year, but Tanner Buchanan holds memories of it and his acquired martial arts skills close to his heart. In an exclusive interview with Hollywood Life, the 26-year-old actor shared that he stays in shape thanks to a high-intensity group exercise course called STRONG Nation.

«I like that you can do it almost anywhere», - Tanner said, explaining how the exercise program fits into his busy schedule. «If you can’t make it to a class, I know they have online classes that you can always attend. And, funny enough, with my career, I travel so much, and I often can’t make it to the gym, which isn’t great for me, as I usually need to keep myself in shape».

Tanner is no stranger to fitness. In Cobra Kai, he played Robbie Keene in all six seasons. He started with almost no martial arts experience — which he jokingly called «non-existent» — but ultimately did «95 percent» of his own stunts in the final season, he told Hollywood Life. Tanner also ended the show with lifelong friendships, calling Ralph Macchio and William Zabka «adoptive fathers» to the young actors. And, as fans know, Tanner is engaged to his co-star Mary Mouser.

Reflecting on his favorite emotional scene from Cobra Kai, Tanner recalled a tearful conversation between Robbie and his father, Johnny (played by William), in the dressing room in the sixth season, where the character reflects on how karate changed his life.

«I remember that last moment… I was crying and getting emotional because I knew it was the last scene [before the show ended]», - Tanner recalled. «And I remember a sweet moment with Billy, when he hugged me in the scene. And then, when they said 'Cut,' he kissed me on the forehead and said, 'First of all, that was amazing. Secondly, it was such an amazing experience that I got to share with you.' So I had to pull myself together and say, 'No, no, I can’t cry anymore.'»

The actor’s lifestyle is busy, so Tanner chose STRONG Nation to help him stay in shape. The course provides students with a combination of exercises using their own body weight, muscle training, cardio, and plyometric training, synchronized with original music, reverse-engineered to match each movement, which, as Tanner noted, «distracts your mind from the fact that you’re working out».

The intensive course promises a calorie-burning experience combined with strengthening arms, legs, abs, and glutes. STRONG Nation stands out from other exercise courses with its approach to moving to the beat of the music, including fast rhythms like EDM, techno, house, drum, dubstep, hip-hop, and fusion genres. As a result, students stay focused on their movements, rather than the tedious counting of each repetition. Although exercises like burpees, squats, and lunges may seem daunting, STRONG Nation collaborates with some of the most renowned music producers, including Timbaland, Krewella, and Steve Aoki, to ensure that students can enjoy the workout while sweating.

Since the STRONG Nation program fits Tanner’s schedule, he can focus on upcoming projects, such as his role in the upcoming supernatural horror film «Hide and Seek». The movie follows six teenagers who «play a terrifying viral Japanese game in which players summon a vengeful spirit for a deadly game of hide and seek», - according to its synopsis.

«It's definitely a horror that surprised me that no one has done it yet», - Tanner teased, adding that the film «will make your heart race, that’s for sure»
