Tyler Riddle sentenced to 15 years for assaulting girlfriend with children

Arizona resident Tyler Riddle has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to assaulting his girlfriend, during which he stabbed her 22 times while her children attempted to protect her. This was reported by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office in a press release on October 13.
The attack occurred in August 2025, when Riddle, 34, went to his then-girlfriend Erin Hume’s home and assaulted her in front of her two sons. Hume stated that her children were also injured while trying to defend her from Riddle. One of her 12-year-old sons called emergency services and reported that his mother was bleeding and that her boyfriend was in their home.
According to Hume, she would have been dead if her son had not called the police. She added that Riddle had been using drugs that night. When police arrived at the scene, they found Hume «covered in blood» with multiple stab wounds and cuts on her neck. During questioning, her children reported that they had been awakened by screams and witnessed Riddle beating their mother.
Hume noted in court that Riddle showed her «absolutely no mercy» that night as he became «aggressive over time». She emphasized that despite Riddle’s attempt to «end her story», - she stands here, alive, speaking for herself and her children. County Attorney Rachel Mitchell also thanked those who assisted in the investigation, stating that thanks to the children’s bravery and the police’s quick response, Hume survived and can find peace knowing that Riddle has been held accountable.
