Tyler Shouk became one of the standout stars of the NFL in the 2025 season, winning the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Year title after an impressive debut with the New Orleans team. Shouk threw for 2,384 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions, completing 67.6% of his passes and setting several franchise rookie records, including the most passing yards, touchdowns, and the highest completion percentage for a first-year quarterback with the Saints. His successful performance at the end of the season included a career-high in Week 17 and a selection to the PFWA All-Rookie team, confirming his rapid rise in the league.
Entering the league as a rookie, Shouk stated that his goal was to contribute to the team’s success. «Whatever I was asked to do, I just wanted to help the team», - he said. «This award really reflects all the work [of my teammates and coaches]… I can’t wait to see where we go next!»
Shouk was selected by the New Orleans team with the 40th pick in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft after a long and unusual college journey. He signed a four-year rookie contract and initially struggled for a spot in the starting lineup before being named the starting quarterback midway through his debut season.
Before entering the NFL, he spent seven seasons playing college football at three Power 5 programs—Oregon, Texas Tech, and Louisville. During that time, he played in 42 games, completing 599 of 951 passes (63.0%) for 7,820 yards with 59 touchdowns, as well as rushing for 733 yards and 11 touchdowns.
His journey included fighting for a starting position at Oregon, overcoming several injuries at Texas Tech, and ultimately having the most productive season at Louisville in 2024, where he threw for over 3,000 yards and 23 touchdowns before declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft.
Off the field, Shouk is married to Jordan Wormdal Shouk, a former player for the Oregon Ducks. The couple got engaged in May 2022 and married in April 2024. In November 2025, they announced that they were expecting their first child—a boy, due to be born in February 2026
