Taylor Swift officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris. In a lengthy statement posted on Instagram on Tuesday, September 10, the 34-year-old pop star also criticized Republican candidate Donald Trump and his team for using artificially created images of her earlier this summer.
«Like many of you, I watched the debates tonight», - Taylor wrote on Instagram just minutes after the end of the presidential debates. «If you haven’t already, now is a great time to study the issues that are on the table and the positions these candidates take on the issues that matter most to you. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country».
The hit singer of «You Need to Calm Down» then pointed out the photos created using artificial intelligence that Donald’s team published this summer. In the photos, Taylor appeared to be supporting the 78-year-old former «Apprentice» host. In her new Instagram statement, Taylor denied this.
«I recently learned that an artificial image 'of me' falsely supporting his presidential campaign was posted on Donald Trump’s website», - she wrote. «This really raised fears for me about artificial intelligence and the danger of spreading misinformation. This led me to conclude that I need to be very transparent about my real plans for these elections as a voter».
In her lengthy caption, Taylor included a photo of herself holding one of her cats — apparently in response to a comment made by Donald’s partner J.D. Vance about «childless cat ladies» earlier this year. She even ended the post by signing it «Childless Cat Lady».
Acknowledging that «the simplest way to combat misinformation is truth», - Taylor wrote that she «will vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential elections».
«I am voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for rights and causes that I believe need a warrior defender», - Taylor continued. «I believe she is a balanced, gifted leader, and I believe we can achieve much more in this country if we are led by calm, not chaos».
Throughout her statement, the hit singer of «Karma» emphasized how she is «inspired and impressed» by Kamala’s choice of Tim as her running mate, a 60-year-old who «has been advocating for LGBTQ+, environmental, and women’s rights for decades».
«I have done my research and made my choice», - Taylor concluded, urging her fans to vote. «Your research is your business, and the choice is yours. I also want to say, especially to those who are voting for the first time: remember, to vote, you must be registered! I also find it much easier to vote early. I will post a link where you can register and find information on early voting dates and locations in my story».
Taylor’s announcement comes amid rumors of her friendship with Brittany Mahomes. The duo became close after Taylor started dating her boyfriend, Travis Kelsey, in mid-2023. Earlier this summer, social media users noticed that Brittany, 29, «liked» Donald’s Instagram post about the GOP plan
