Taylor Swift performed the song «Clara Bow» live for the first time on Sunday, June 30, and dedicated it to Stevie Nicks. The 34-year-old singer performed the final track from her album «Tortured Poets Department» at her concert at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin. Since the 76-year-old rock star «Edge of Seventeen» was present at the show, Taylor dedicated the song to her during the «Surprise Songs» section of her setlist.
Before starting the song, Taylor praised Stevie, saying how she has been a strong force in the music industry for young artists. «My friend is here, she’s watching the show, and she really is one of the reasons why I, or any female artist, can do what we do. She paved the way for us», - she said. «She has mentored so many artists that you don’t even know she’s doing it. She has become a friend to many female artists, to be a guiding hand. I can’t tell you how rare that is».
Before revealing that she was talking about the Fleetwood Mac singer, Taylor talked about her friendship with Stevie. «She's my heroine, and also the person I can tell any secret to, and she will never tell anyone», - she said. «She has truly helped me for so many years. I’m talking about Stevie Nicks».
The dedication to Stevie was particularly special, as the song Taylor performed contains a reference to the rock star. In one of the verses of the song «Clara Bow», - Taylor sings: «You look like Stevie Nicks/In '75, hair and lips/Crowd goes wild for her fingertips/Crescent moon, full eclipse»
