Former NFL quarterback Terry Bradshaw shared his experiences with depression and personal struggles in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, coinciding with the release of his new autobiography «Looking for Terry». In the conversation, which took place on October 11, he noted that the book addresses topics he had not previously discussed, including his divorce and battle with depression.
Bradshaw, who is now 78 years old, revealed that his diagnosis was made in the late 1990s, after he had finished his playing career. He mentioned that he had experienced anxiety and depression throughout his life, even during his greatest successes with the Pittsburgh Steelers. According to him, writing this book became a way to «cleanse his soul», - and he does not pursue financial goals, as «money goes to the writers and publishers».
He also shared that after the book’s release, strangers approached him to thank him for his honesty. Bradshaw noted that men in stores told him that his words helped them cope with depression.
Additionally, he touched on his career at Fox, where he is being urged to retire following recent health issues and on-air mistakes. Bradshaw stated that he loves his job and has signed a two-year contract, until the Super Bowl, adding that he wants to remain relevant and continue to entertain viewers. The autobiography «Looking for Terry» is already available in print, electronic, and audio formats, the latter of which is narrated by Bradshaw himself.
