Terry Irwin recalls her first meeting with Steve Irwin
Terry Irwin recalled her first meeting with her late husband Steve Irwin, known as the «Crocodile Hunter», - 35 years ago. She shared a photo of them examining a snake and wrote on Instagram: «35 years ago, I met the most incredible man at a small roadside wildlife sanctuary in Queensland, Australia».

The 62-year-old Terry noted that this chance encounter changed her life forever. She expressed confidence that she and Steve were not just soulmates, but that their life purpose was even more significant. «I am truly blessed to live a life full of love, family, and adventure», - she added.

The sanctuary where they met belonged to Steve’s parents and later became known as Australia Zoo. According to the website, Steve began managing the park on October 4, 1991, and his meeting with Terry occurred two days later. The couple married in 1992 in Eugene, Oregon, and they welcomed daughter Bindi in 1998 and son Robert in 2003.

Bindi also marked the occasion on Instagram, posting a touching photo of her parents and writing: «35 years ago my parents met. They began the most beautiful love story that continues to exist even after loss». Robert shared their mother’s post in his Stories, adding: «My absolute heroes in life».

Steve Irwin passed away on September 4, 2006, due to a stingray attack while filming a documentary in Australia. He was only 44 years old. In May, «Extra» met with Robert and Terry at the Gala Dinner honoring Steve Irwin in Las Vegas. Robert spoke about his father’s legacy and the anniversary of his death, noting that Steve would be proud that so many people support wildlife conservation.

He emphasized that his mother is the only person who continues to uphold Steve’s legacy, which is a very challenging task. «The way she carries herself inspires me every day», - Robert added. Terry, for her part, expressed hope that she is doing everything right, saying: «We really try to honor his life and legacy».
