Nika Reiner’s aunt, Martin Singer, spoke about her feelings towards her nephew, who is accused of murdering his parents, Robert Reiner and Michelle Singer Reiner. In an interview with ABC7 that aired on October 2, Martin noted that she is trying to cope with the situation, but the tragedy always remains in her thoughts and heart.
Martin, who runs one of the largest children’s charities in Southern California, is the younger sister of the late Michelle, who was allegedly killed along with her husband Rob by their son Nick, 33, on December 14, 2025. Reports indicate that the day before the murders, Nick had an argument with his father at a Christmas party hosted by Conan O’Brien. He was arrested near the UCLA campus on December 14.
Nick Reiner has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder, with prosecutors confirming that they will not seek the death penalty. Martin shared that she learned of her sister’s death from a relative in December of last year. She confirmed that she has not spoken to Nick since then, as he is in Twin Towers jail in Los Angeles awaiting trial.
When asked if she had anything to say to Nick, Martin hesitated and replied, «I'm not sure I can answer that». She also mentioned that it is difficult for her to think of her sister and brother-in-law in the past tense after their deaths, describing them as «magnetic» and «charismatic» people.
Nick’s brother, Jake Reiner, also shared his feelings of loss in a recent interview with ABC7. He noted that eight months have passed, but it feels like eight years and eight minutes at the same time. Jake said that now he and his sister Romy are left alone after their parents died and their brother ended up in jail.
Nick Reiner is scheduled to return to court on October 23 for a hearing regarding the family trust to continue his fight for access to the family trust to pay for his legal expenses.
