Taylor Swift has announced a star-studded cast for her upcoming music video for the song «Patient Zero». The video will feature Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson, and it will premiere at the MTV VMAs on Sunday on CBS.
Every music video by Taylor contains «Easter eggs», - and we reached out to Olivia Levin, author of the book «Our Story: How the Taylor Swift Fan Movement Changed Our Lives», - to decode the hints. Levin noted that in a sketch at the Emmys, Taylor said the word «carbohydrate», - which is a synonym for «sugar». This is relevant because Colin Farrell stars in the series «Sugar».
Olivia also pointed out Taylor’s phrase «North or South», - which refers to Dakota Johnson, as it is the name of two states—North and South Dakota. Fans also noticed that Taylor’s line in the sketch «Carbohydrate. Aries. From the winery. North or South» has even greater significance. If you take the third letter of each word and rearrange them, you get the word «encore».
This is important because «Patient Zero» will be included in the expanded version of the album «The Life of a Showgirl», - which is titled «The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore». The single «Patient Zero» and three other songs will be released in the «Encore» edition, which will be available on September 25.
