The friendship between Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes is once again making headlines — but not for the same reasons as before. After Patrick Mahomes' wife noticeably showed support for several social media posts in support of Donald Trump, Swift’s fans began to question whether their friendship with the «Karma» artist had come to an end. After all, Taylor had previously criticized members of the Republican Party.

During the «Chiefs vs. Ravens» game on September 5th, Taylor and Brittany were seated in different luxury boxes. This was a stark contrast to the previous football season when they were photographed hugging and cheering for their favorite team in 2023 and early 2024. Outside of sports, Brittany was photographed in New York on several occasions in the company of Taylor. During one of their outings, she was seen spending time with Taylor and her best friend Selena Gomez. Brittany also shares several photos with Taylor on social media.
It is unclear why Brittany and Taylor suddenly decided to sit separately. However, they have not been photographed together in public places since February.
Social media users quickly discovered that Brittany had «liked» a post by Donald on August 13th on Instagram, which described the «GOP platform for 2024». Other celebrities who supported the post included actress Candace Cameron Bure. Donald publicly thanked Brittany for her support, writing through Truth Social: «I want to thank the beautiful Brittany Mahomes for standing up for me so strongly».
Facing criticism for liking the post of the Republican candidate, Brittany seemed to respond to the criticism in a statement through her Instagram Stories.
«I mean, honestly, to be an adult hater, you must have some deep-seated issues that you refuse to heal from childhood», - Brittany wrote in her note. «There is no reason for your brain to be fully developed and you hate to see others doing well».
Taylor has not yet publicly commented on the scandal. However, she had previously criticized Donald, including in an interview with The Guardian.
«We are a democracy — at least we should be — where you are allowed to disagree, dissent, debate», - she told the publication in 2019. «I really think [Donald] sees it as autocracy».
Additionally, the lyrics of Taylor’s popular single «You Need to Calm Down» are reportedly about Donald.
Neither Taylor nor Brittany have publicly commented on the status of their friendship. However, in February, Brittany came to Taylor’s defense, shutting down trolls who criticized her appearances at Chiefs games.
