Taylor Swift supported Kamala Harris: Trump’s reaction and comments from Vance

JD Vance and the Trump team may find it difficult to shake this off.
Here’s everything you need to know about the support of the mega-pop star, which she shared with her 283 million followers on Instagram.
Taylor Swift officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris immediately after the two presidential candidates descended from the debate stage in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In a lengthy statement on Instagram on Tuesday, September 10, the singer of «Karma» expressed her support, as well as criticized the Republican candidate and his team for using fake images with her likeness this summer.
«Like many of you, I watched the debates tonight», - Swift began in her post. «If you haven’t already, now is a great time to familiarize yourself with the issues on the table and the positions these candidates take on the issues that matter most to you. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country».
She continued: «I recently learned that artificial intelligence 'supported' Donald Trump’s candidacy in the presidential elections, and it really scared me about artificial intelligence and the dangers of spreading misinformation. This led me to the conclusion that I need to be very candid about my real plans for these elections as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is the truth».
Donald Trump previously posted fake images on his Truth Social platform.
In addition to the stated reason for using artificial intelligence, Swift described Harris as a «resilient, talented leader» and noted that she was «so encouraged and impressed by her choice of vice presidential candidate, Governor Tim Walz, who has been advocating for LGBTQ+, environmental, and women’s rights for decades».
The singer emphasized her decision, concluding: «I have done my research and made my choice. Your research is entirely up to you, and the choice of your decisions. I also want to say, especially to first-time voters: remember, in order to vote, you must be registered! I also find it much easier to vote early. I will post a link where you can register and find information on early voting dates and times in your history».
Trump was asked to react to the news of Swift’s endorsement of his opponent, which now has nearly 6 million likes. «I have no idea», - replied the Republican candidate.
The 14-time Grammy winner attached a photo of herself holding one of her cats and captioned the post «Childless Cat Lady» — a direct mockery of Trump’s vice presidential candidate, Vance, whose comments surfaced earlier this year.
Vance complained that America is run by «a bunch of childless cat ladies who are unhappy in their lives and choices», - referring to Harris, who has two stepchildren from her marriage to second gentleman Doug Emhoff.
After expressing regret for not speaking out more against Trump during his first campaign in 2016, the singer took a more active political stance, speaking out on issues such as access to abortions. Similar to her support closer to the election in 2020, Swift endorsed Joe Biden on October 7, 2020.
In 2020, Swift’s support for Biden and Harris sparked significant outrage among conservatives, who urged her to keep her music career apolitical.
In November 2023, a national NBC News poll showed that 40% of registered voters viewed Swift positively, while 16% viewed her negatively. A majority of Democrats (53%) viewed her positively, while 28% of Republicans had similar feelings.
Although there was much speculation in the media this year about whether Swift would publicly declare her support, her fans quickly rallied behind Harris.
Swifties for Kamala, a fan group not officially affiliated with both women, expressed their emotions. «We had no doubts that Taylor would support at the right time and we are happy about it»
