Taylor Swift dedicated her award to Dolly Parton at the MTV VMAs
Taylor Swift paid tribute to Dolly Parton at the MTV VMAs ceremony, where she received the night’s top honor — the award for Best Video for «The Fate of Ophelia».

While accepting the award, Swift thanked her co-writers and dedicated the prize to Parton, who passed away in August after battling cancer. She stated, «I want to thank and dedicate this award to one person without whom this would not have happened, and that person is the greatest showgirl, Dolly Parton».

Swift emphasized that every song by Parton was filled with vibrant and rich stories, comparing them to the best music videos. She added that Parton always exhibited grace, joy, and gratitude for the opportunity to make music, as well as honoring her fans.

For Swift, it was a landmark night: she made history by becoming the most awarded artist in MTV VMA history with 33 wins. This year, she had 11 nominations and won two awards, including Best Direction for «Opalite» and, more importantly, Video of the Year for «The Fate of Ophelia». She also received her first MTV VMA Artist Director Honors award.
