Taylor Swift did not attend the Kansas City Chiefs' first away game of the 2026 season, which took place on September 27 in Miami. On that day, the Chiefs faced the Miami Dolphins, but Swift reportedly did not appear at Hard Rock Stadium.
The singer’s absence was not surprising, as she also did not attend the Chiefs' away games last season. This event occurred just two days after the release of her new album «The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore», - which includes four new songs and was released on September 25.
Additionally, Taylor Swift will receive the first MTV VMA Artist Director Honors at the MTV Video Music Awards ceremony, which will take place in Los Angeles on Sunday. This award recognizes «breakthrough musical artists whose work behind the camera has expanded the possibilities of music videos and advanced the art of visual storytelling». Swift is also nominated 11 more times at this ceremony, including for «Artist of the Year», - «Video of the Year» for «The Fate of Ophelia», - «Album of the Year» for «The Life of a Showgirl», - and «Song of the Summer» for «I Knew It, I Knew You».
The album «The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore» also features the song «Patient Zero», - for which a music video was filmed starring Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell. The full version of the video will debut at the VMA on Sunday. Swift spoke about the inspiration for «Patient Zero» in an interview with Capital FM, noting that the song is based on conversations with friends about the complexities of relationships.
The Chiefs' next game will be in Las Vegas against the Raiders on October 4.
