Taylor Swift has released a new album titled «The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore», - which includes four new songs, among them the highly anticipated single «Patient Zero», - as well as «Cleveland», - «Pink Clouding», - and «Babylon».
In an interview with Capital FM, Swift spoke about the inspiration for «Patient Zero». She shared that during a gathering with friends, one of them recounted how her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend reached out for advice, asking if she had experienced similar issues in relationships. This sparked a discussion among the friends, and Taylor decided to write a song from the perspective of someone receiving such a call. In the song, she sings, «my lips are sealed tight… It’s not for me to tell», - but later shifts the tone, saying, «But if you’re tired of him, I’ll support you, I was patient zero».
The song «Cleveland» is a love letter to her new husband Travis Kelce, who grew up in Cleveland Heights. In it, Taylor sings, «He already took me to Cleveland / And showed me the heights / So hate as much as you want / This is the love of my life».
«Pink Clouding» sounds like an apology. Taylor uses the term «pink clouding» to describe the euphoria a person feels after becoming sober, which fades when reality sets in. In the song, she says, «And how I treated you, you didn’t deserve that / And I swear to God, still / I wake up in horror that I left scars on a good man». Online discussions suggest that «Pink Clouding» may be dedicated to Tom Hiddleston, with whom she dated after her breakup with Calvin Harris.
