The project of Halle Berry and Mark Wahlberg was not something we expected, but the plot about former high school sweethearts turned secret spies was intriguing enough to interest anyone in the movie. The two movie stars had just released their action movie «Union», - and fans felt like something was missing: a kiss. After all, if Halle and Mark play a former couple who reunite, shouldn’t there be a happy ending?

Hollywood Life magazine has gathered everything you need to know about «Union». Warning: spoilers ahead.

The film follows Mark’s character, Mike, «a simple builder who finds himself in the world of super spies and secret agents when his former high school sweetheart, Roxanna [Halle], recruits him for a high-stakes espionage mission in the USA».

According to the trailer, Roxanna and Mike meet in a bar twenty years after their relationship ended. Several drinks and a romantic dance later, Roxanna incapacitates Mike, and he wakes up in London. J.K. Simmons' character, Tom, informs Mike that a list of American spy names has been compromised. Before embarking on a dangerous mission, Roxanna and «Union» train Mike in a crash course spy program.

After its release date on August 16, 2024, the film is now available for viewing on Netflix.

Despite some romantic tension between their characters, Halle and Mark do not kiss in the movie. Halle explained the reason why they decided to avoid a kiss, according to Variety.

«As soon as they kiss, it’s all over», - the actress said. «We hope that if we have the opportunity to make a second film, we will allow this story to continue. You want to see the journey — see how these two high school sweethearts find each other».

Director Julian Farino approved the «long-discussed» decision to skip the kiss.

«We brought the relationship to a certain level, and I think it’s important to leave a lot of room for development», - Julian told the magazine. «Netflix always told us from the beginning: 'You have to think of this as a possible idea for three movies.' So if viewers come out wanting a kiss, then in my opinion, we did everything right»
